Winter Holidays 2012

Posted on September 20, 2012 | evankirby

We've always taken shorter holidays than the average Japanese school here at GenkiJACS. But this year we made the decision to shorten our winter holiday a little bit more, so we can best serve the needs of students. We normally take off from December 31st till January 3rd, but this year those dates fall from Monday to Thursday, so students would miss almost a whole week of classes! A lot of our students have only a limited time to study with us, and we want to help you make the most of that time, so we've decided to close for only December 31st and January 1st, and be open for classes as normal from January 2nd, Wednesday.

We will of course still arrange a fun activity for students for the two days we are closed! Details to come later - stay tuned!

Our holidays for 2012 and beyond can be found on our site.

Host families are for life!

Host family with students

We always recommend host families to students who want to make a long-lasting connection in Japan. Our wonderful host family the Yonezawas showed how important that connection can be during their recent tour of Europe, when they stopped by to meet several of the former students who had stayed with them while studying Japanese language with us.

The Yonezawas were kind enough to send us comments about their time in Europe with Genki Japanese school students. It's in Japanese, but here's the most important part:
"All the students said that they love Japan and Japanese people, and Genki Japanese School."

Here's their thoughts, in Japanese, for your reading practice:
