The US government has a large database of practical Japanese lessons online that can be useful for all Japanese learners. These are offered through the Defense Language Institute’s Foreign Language Center. These free Japanese classes all focus on understanding real-world materials, including text, audio and video. They can be a great way to practice your Japanese language skills before you visit a Japanese language school!

To access them, select “Japanese”, then choose the level. A warning, though: as these classes are all based on real-world materials, they’re not suitable for beginners. Even the Japanese lessons listed as level 1 are quite advanced, using intermediate-level vocabulary.
