Bildungsurlaub course

Since October 2008, study at Genki Japanese's Tokyo and Kyoto language schools is recognized by the following German state authorities as eligible for up to an extra 10 days of educational leave:

  • Berlin
  • Brandenburg
  • Hamburg
  • Hessen
  • Niedersachsen
  • Rheinland-Pfalz
  • Saarland
  • Sachsen-Anhalt
  • Schleswig-Holstein
  • Mecklenburg
This course aims to give German students applying for the Bildungsurlaub a grounding in the basics of the Japanese language required for daily conversation when dealing with Japanese people, either in Japan or overseas. Our special package combines specialized modules to give employees the required 31 hours per week of classes.

  Held on weekdays and Saturdays
  Course length: 2 weeks
  Not available in weeks with a public holiday
  Not available for Complete Beginner level students
  Only available Kyoto and Tokyo

MAIN Course setup (Minimum 2 weeks)

Core Japanese course

20 LESSONS / WEEK

The main part of your course will be our core Japanese course, which consists of the following:

  • Two grammar lessons every day
  • Two language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) lessons every day
The 10 grammar classes per week focus on the essential points of Japanese grammar, while the 10 language-skills classes teach students how to use the grammar they learnt in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Conversation module

4 lessons / week

These lessons allow students to use their abilities in everyday situations, becoming proficient in the communicational aspect of the language.

Culture module

5-6 lessons / week

Japanese culture is such and integral and intrinsic part of really understanding the language. That's why we also offer 5-6 additional hours of intensive cultural lessons to students (due to availability they might take place on Saturdays).
