Core Japanese language course with Genki Japanese and Culture School

You won't get far in Japan without being able to speak the language, but using the special techniques our teachers have developed, you'll be surprised how easy it is to learn to speak Japanese, and you'll be fluent before you know it!

Our Standard Course uses interesting and modern materials and activities to focus on improving your Japanese speaking ability in a way that gives you the flexibility to adapt to new situations, until one day you won't even need a teacher anymore!

Small-group classes are given both inside and outside of the classroom - you will learn essential communication techniques in structured lessons with the teacher, then practice them in real-world situations

This course will form the basis of any study plan you choose to follow at GenkiJACS. It consists of ten 50-minute grammar classes per week, and ten 4-skill “application” classes, where you practice what you learned in communicative situations.

You can add any of our exciting modules or addons on top of this course for an even more intensive Japanese learning experience!

Please note that Hiragana Alphabet knowledge is compulsory for any level of course.

Class system

Our Japanese language school works on a rolling start basis, meaning we have several ongoing classes studying different points in the curriculum at any time. When new students join on Monday, they fall into the class studying material that is closest to their level.

You will have 20 class hours per week, 4 classes per day. 2 classes will focus on grammar and 2 classes will focus on the application of the 4 key skills – Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading.

Each class is 50 minutes long.

We have courses starting almost every Monday of the year!

If you have not studied Japanese previously, then our complete beginner courses start every 1st Monday of the month and every 1st and 3rd Monday during the summer months.

If Monday happens to be a national holiday, then your first day of school will be on Tuesday.
We do work somewhat like a university in that, depending on the class you get placed in, you may have morning classes on some days and afternoon classes on some other days. It's impossible to tell what time you will be having classes at this stage, as the schedule for each week only gets released the week before once you have started your course.

Morning classes are from 9:30-13:10. Afternoon classes are from 11:25-15:50 or 14:05-17:45.

No activities are included in this course. However we have a number of free and paid for extracurrirular activities that you may join outside of your class hours.
