While it can be quite difficult to enter a Japanese university, it is much easier to apply to a two-year technical college. If you study on GenkiJACS' one-year student visa course, you should be able to meet the entrance requirements for some or all of these schools.

Two-year technical colleges in Japan offer a variety of exciting courses such as game design, manga, and much more.

We have made a list of schools that offer courses interesting to our students, along with their entrance requirements. Note that most schools only take in new students in April, the Japanese school year start, so if you wish to move straight from GenkiJACS to a college, we recommend starting with us in April. Classes at these schools will be held in Japanese, and you will be studying alongside mostly Japanese people.

Graduating from a Japanese college gives you the equivalent of an associate's degree. Usually, to receive a working visa in Japan, you must have a full four-year degree. In many cases it is possible to move to a university after graduating from the technical college.

"N2" in the table below means having passed level N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). This test is held in July and December each year. To pass N2, it is recommended to have studied at least 600 classroom hours of Japanese, or roughly 1600-2800 total hours including homework, etc. GenkiJACS' one year course has 800 classroom hours, plus roughly 400 hours of homework, so if you have a good amount of prior study, passing N2 is not impossible. However, your achievement will depend on your study effort, and we cannot guarantee that you will pass. If passing N2 is your main goal, tell your teacher, and we will be happy to give you extra support.
